Dawn Hammacott, Executive Director

Dawn, co-founder of the Community Culinary School, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and long-time food service professional with extensive experience in many aspects of the industry including food service management. Baking and pastry arts are her specialty. She is the former owner of Grand Patisserie, a popular New Milford establishment. She has led, and grown, the Community Culinary School over the course of its history, continually improving upon and adding to programming while ensuring the financial well-being of the school by securing state contracts as a SNAP and WIOA Employment Training Provider and New Milford Senior Center Congregate Meal Provider.

Blythe Roberts, Chef Instructor

Blythe is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York City. He grew up working in his family-owned catering business. His professional life has been spent in food service where he has acquired extensive culinary and kitchen management experience in restaurants, catering houses and institutions making him particularly well-suited for the position of Chef Instructor. His duties include class instruction, kitchen management, and catering supervision.

Jason Streck-Weller, Senior Center Chef

Jay, former owner of The Cow’s Outside, made a career change when he attended the Community Culinary School. He is now employed by the school as the Senior Center Chef, overseeing the congregate meal service for the New Milford Senior Center. In his role, he not only fills the nutritional needs of the seniors with delicious meals but also helps to fulfill their social needs with his caring and warm interactions with them, a benefit that cannot be understated.

Elaine D. Swanson, Development Assistant

 Elaine has worked for the Culinary School since 2017 but has been involved with the school since its inception.  She is responsible for providing support services to the finance and development offices in fundraising activities including managing data, inputting information, generating reports, and assuring the integrity of the data.  She also handles all the social media and the website for the school.  Elaine is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and owner of Farm or Pharma, LLC as well as working for the Culinary School part time.
