Posted by on May 12, 2016 in Blog | 0 comments

The Community Culinary School announces kid’s summer cooking classes. The “Cooking as a Life Skill” sessions will provide children with skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. This enriching, exciting, and healthy summer experience will allow each child to get the most out of their summer break. Utilizing cooking as a creative outlet, children will gain an understanding of basic cooking techniques and nutrition, which can lead to a healthier and happier self. Classes will also include safe food practices. “We’re very excited to be able to offer children’s cooking classes in addition to our job-training program. This summer, your child will learn delicious and fun to prepare recipes for snacks, breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert including kid-friendly, healthier versions of some of their favorites,” said Dawn Hammacott, Executive Director of the Community Culinary School. The summer classes include two 5-day sessions: August 8-12 and August 15-19. Classes for children aged 6-9 will be held from 9:30am-12:00pm. Older children, aged 10-12, will have class in the afternoon from 1:30pm – 4:00pm. Tuition is $175 per child. Early registration is encouraged due to small class size. To enroll your child, please contact the school at 203-512-5791 or fill out this...

View it in your browser.   GIVING TUESDAY: A DAY DEDICATED TO GIVING BACK SAVE THE DATE! #GIVINGTUESDAY IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER Tuesday, December 1st is Giving Tuesday – a day where individuals and communities come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give to their charity of choice. We hope you will choose the Community Culinary School as your charity and become a part of a global celebration of generosity.   In this time of giving thanks, we extend our sincere gratitude to our loyal supporters. With your help, we’re able to train our students for careers. Students that graduate from our program enter the workforce ready to embark on stable, long-lasting careers in the food service industry and not a dead-end job with no room for advancement. While our participants come to us for many reasons, they all have the same goal: the hope for a better life for themselves and their families. After gaining experience in the field, our graduates have found the following success in their careers: Luke holds the position of Head Chef at American Kitchen in New Milford. Justin heads a kitchen at an assisted living facility. This full-time job with benefits has enabled him to purchase his first home! Derrick earned the position of Sous Chef at the Watermark at East Hill Retirement Community. Lauren continued her education at the Culinary Institute of America and she now works as a private chef and gets to travel with her employers. Charitable gifts, from supporters like you, help fund culinary training, provide meals for the hungry within our community, and give our students the knowledge and tools needed for a successful career path within the food service industry.  Your gift will make a world of difference. Thank you! GIVE TODAY BONUS RECIPE: Looking for a holiday dessert?  Try these pumpkin chocolate cookies from our grad, Mary Helen. From all of us at the Community Culinary School, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and Holiday Season.
